Sylvain Faye
Sylvain Faye was born in 1976 in Clermont-Ferrand. He spent most of his childhood in Africa, a continent to which he still maintains a strong connection. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Montpellier, he began training as a sculptor and stonemason at the Louvre in Paris in 1998. Alongside his work on construction sites restoring historical monuments, he discovered his passion for theatre and stage design and decided in 2000 to settle in Marseille to make it his profession. Since 2008, he has been living in Berlin. Since then, he has participated in numerous projects across various fields — from sculpture and stage design to lighting design and film. He has collaborated with visual artists (Olafur Eliasson, Sofia Hultén, Pae White), directors (Hélène Soulié, Franck Dimech, Stéphane Braunschweig, Milo Rau, Eva-Maria Bertschy) and artist collectives (Performing Group, Familie Flöz, Group 5050). In parallel with his artistic activities, he has specialized in the technical direction of theatre productions — a role he often takes on for the projects he is involved in, as well as for institutions such as the Neuköllner Oper in Berlin.
