WAX COLLECTION

ARTIST DRIVEN FASHIONLABEL & EXPERIMENTAL RUNWAY SHOW

WAX COLLECTION

operates as a brand, laboratory, and proposition: a transnational fashion network in which garments emerge through artistic research and collective authorship.

Produced between Kumasi, Accra, Palermo, Paris, Berlin, and Basel, the label brings together artists, designers, and thinkers who approach fashion as a precise, conceptual medium.

Each garment forms part of a larger field. Political, emotional, and speculative. Resisting and reconfiguring postcolonial structures.

COLLECTION VS. UNIQUES

Clothing here is not understood as decoration, but as a statement. It carries emotion, encodes identity, and acts as a site of social and ecological negotiation.

At the center of WAX COLLECTION is a reflection on wax prints as mobile archives and layered processes. These garments are not static objects, but circulating spaces of meaning — copies that generate new originals.

WAX COLLECTION begins with the assumption that clothing can think: that it carries memory, conflict, and desire, and becomes an active participant in discourse.

As an art form, fashion is unique in its everydayness. It moves through cities and across continents, traversing borders on bodies. It structures perception — both intimate and public at once.

WAX COLLECTION is produced by GROUP50:50 in coproduction with Kaserne Basel. With the financial support of: Fachausschuss Tanz & Theater Basel-Stadt /Basel-Landschaft, Pro Helvetia, Schweizer Kulturstiftung, Ernst Göhner Stiftung, Landis & Gyr Stiftung, Anne-Marie Schindler Stiftung and Südkulturfonds.

RUNWAY SHOW ON TOUR

Through experimental runway shows, the collection becomes a site of inquiry — a space where fashion and action intersect.

WAX COLLECTION understands fashion as a form of knowledge: not passive, but operative. Not superficial, but structural.

Here, clothing becomes a visible experience.
